Prayer Opportunities
Prayer Opportunities at North suburban church
Often there are missed opportunities in life. Suppose Joe was asked to join the Chicago Cubs in the spring of 2016, the year they won the World Series. He thought it was a great opportunity and he meant to accept the offer, but he put it off, and now he regrets the missed opportunity. Suppose Mary had a chance to work for Google when the company just started. She meant to accept the job offer, but she put it off, and now she regrets the missed opportunity. But here is a far, far greater missed opportunity – not praying. James 4 verse 2 says “You do not have because you do not ask”. Let’s not let that be said of us!
What could God do in the life of our church? Good question. Consider Ephesians 3:20 “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we can ask or think…”
Hopefully you are all diligent in prayer in your personal lives. In our community life as a church, we have several opportunities:
The Prayer Team are people who have agreed to pray daily for the church. Each month we send a daily prayer guide, which has prayer requests from pastors, staff, and ministry leaders. It has a calendar of events and a suggested schedule of people (Pastors, Staff, Elders, Deacons, Woman’s Leadership Team) to pray for each day. To join the team for a year, contact Dale Houg.
We have Prayer Meetings.
Sunday Morning Pre-Service Prayer - Sunday mornings from 8:55 - 9:10am in the Hospitality Room, led by Peter Murray.
Third Monday Noon Prayer - The church staff takes turns leading this. The calls happen on the third Monday of the month. Use the Microsoft Teams link in the Monday Update.
First Wednesday Prayer with Adat - this is the first Wednesday of each month, by Zoom. Use this link.
There is the Urgent Prayer Network, managed by Lee Jerr. That is for people with urgent prayer needs, like an accident, surgery, or health issue. When someone has such a need, the people on this list get an email. The number of emails varies; maybe 5 a month or 10 in a busy month. To sign up for this, email Lee.
On Sunday mornings we have Prayer Partners. The prayer partners go to the front of the sanctuary after service and pray with members of the congregation who are in need of prayer.
So, don’t miss the opportunity to pray!
