Parsonage Update 9.26.19

As previously mentioned in the Sept. 12th and 19th updates, as well as the document sent out in mid-August (entitled “2019 Facilities Recommendation”), the Elders determined to go ahead and do the minimal work of making sure the Parsonage is “dry” before the wet season is upon us. This will allow us to use the structure any way we choose in the future. It is being paid for by using an anonymous gift that was given with the direction that it may be used where the Elders decide.
Last week, the work of installing drain tile around the inside of the basement foundation that allowed water to drain into a sump hole and be ejected away from the building was completed. It appears to have worked. The rains that have occurred since then have not caused water to enter the basement.
This week, new workers came to address the mold problems in the basement and building. Dressed in environmental suits and masks, 2 workers have been working all week to eliminate any harmful mold from the building.
As of today, the initial work on the parsonage is complete. A new sump pump is being installed today. All mold has been re-mediated, the two emptied oil tanks are gone, and the parsonage has been completely cleared of all interior debris. It is dry, mold-free, and ready for next steps.

We will give you more information at the Town Hall Meeting on Sunday, September 29th after church.
